It has been eight months since Maajida last graced the winners’ circle but she changed that at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.

The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere won the $50,000 Group 2 Breeders Crown Championship giving trainer Emma Stewart six winners on the bumper card.

“It’s been a terrific night and to finish with Maajida winning has topped it off nicely, she has been a great mare to us,” said Stewart.

The successful night for the top stable has been an early birthday present for Stewart who will celebrate her 40th Birthday on Sunday.

As for Maajida, the mare ticked her earnings over to $547,880, making her the richest daughter of her sire bred in Australasia.

Driven by Greg Sugars, Maajida was urged forward from barrier one before taking cover as her stablemate Techys Angel worked to the lead.

The lead time was 45 seconds followed by a first quarter in 30.8.

New Zealand mare Amazing Dream worked to sit outside the leader and then the tempo stepped up a notch with the final three sectionals clocked in 28.6, 27.4 and 27.7 seconds.

Maajida ran past Techys Angel to win by more than two metres with Amazing Dream in third place in a mile rate of 1:54.6.

Stewart’s other winners on the night were Honolua Bay, Just A Bit Touchy, Act Now, Ladies In Red and Encipher.
