Q Ts Charlie (Proven Lover) went all the way in the final Winners-Over of the harness racing season at Northside Downs on Saturday (Nov. 18).
The gelding grabbed the lead from the pylon post and gave the cold shoulder to the favoured Revenant, forcing him back into the three-hole in a :28.2 first quarter. Revenant re-fired approaching the half in :59.4 and put the leader, driven by Adam Lynk, under pressure entering the backstretch.
Q Ts Charlie held him a length-and-a-half back to three-quarters in 1:29.3 and turned for home with the same cushion. His rivals fanned four-wide behind him, and pocket-sitter Keeperoftherealm (Redmond Doucet) made a dash, but Q Ts Charlie hung on to win by a quarter-length in 1:59.2.
Keeperoftherealm was second over fellow closer Eastcoast Invader (Monica Sutherland).
