Top harness racing mare Piccadilly Princess edged out Tiger Tara in todays Ashburton workout.
The race was run in hot windy conditions with three horses contesting the C8 & faster heat.
Tiger Tara was away quickly and led from Piccadilly Princess who trailed all the way.
Dream About Me veered sideways at the start but came down pacing and sat three deep on the fence until the turn.
In the straight Dream About Me went up to look at Tiger Tara but both succumbed late to Piccadilly Princess who sprinted best up the passing to win narrowly.
Piccadilly Princess ran the 2400m from a stand in 3:02.1 with the last 800m in 54.9 and 400m in a slick 25.6
Piccadilly Princess who is trained by Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen, will contest a C5 to OC race at Ashburton on Monday along side stable mates Dream About Me and Titan Banner but the main target for her is a $A125,000 Mares Classic in Australia on December 9.
Tiger Tara wil start in the Ashburton Flying Stakes against New Zealand Cup favorite Lazarus and Methven Cup winner Smolda.
In the trotters heat later in the day Monbet ran home his last 400m in 26.6sec but had to settle for second behind All Lit Up.
