Having won four of his last five starts all while racing on the front end, Hellabalou (Sweet Lou) and harness racing driver Yannick Gingras set sail once again on the lead and wired the field at Yonkers Raceway Monday (Nov. 20).
Competing in the 5th race $32,000 Open Pace, race favorite Hellabalou and Gingras left from post four with American Mercury (Joe Bongiorno) sitting right on their backs to the opening quarter mile in :56.2.
The field raced single file to the half mile marker in :56.2 with Hellabalou in command of the pace. As they entered the backstretch, Rocknroll Runa A (Mark MacDonald) started up first-over with Leonidas A (Austin Siegleman) second-over, but by the three-quarters in 1:24.1, were unable to gain any ground against Hellabalou.
Around the final turn and by the top of the stretch, Hellabalou had a two and one-half length lead on the field coming down the stretch and held on to win by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:53. Simon Says Hanover (Daniel Dube) closed to be second with Leonidas A third.
HELLABALOU REPLAY
