Unusual Clarity (Betterthancheddar) and harness racing driver Ron Harp captured the $7,500 featured fillies & mares’ pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (October 20).
The Hunt Is On (Truman Gale) came three-wide to get to the quarter first in :26.0. Milleniums Girl (Barton Dalious) took the lead going down the backstretch and led to the half in :53.4. Unusual Clarity ($10.80) made her move first-over going around the final turn. Milleniums Girl was first to three-quarters in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch Unusual Clarity took over the lead. Clemmie Hanover (Tom Merton) came first-up as Cruizen The Night (Chris Long) came three-wide. Unusual Clarity dug in and won in 1:52.4. Clemmie Hanover was second best. Cruizen The Night finished third.
Unusual Clarity is an 8-year-old mare owned by Nicholas Gibides and trained by Harp. It was her eighth win this year. She now has 33 career victories.

John MacDonald drove three winners on the card. Tom Merton and Chris Long had driving doubles.
Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday (October 21) with an 11-race card starting at 6:05 p.m. Vernon will also have a fall festival at the track with vendors and candy and lots more fun for the kids. It starts at 5:30 p.m.
